Craigslist: Sometimes Not The Worst

I was in Wilmington, NC this past weekend with some friends for boating/partying/hanging out purposes. The guy we we’re down to visit suggested that we go for a surf before my flight out on Sunday, so we did. Talk about therapy! I had forgotten about how awesome you can feel after surfing. I’ve never felt so good before a flight (Valium induced flight home from Hawaii included.)

So anyway, I perused CL for a board of my own...Wouldn’t you know it someone had just posted a 7'2" funboard that had my name all over it. Even better it was only $75! Even a crappy surfboard is worth $200. I have had the worst luck with CL so I didn’t get my hopes up (just kidding, they were up.)

I picked it up Monday and it fits perfectly in the bed of the Ranger. I have been driving the ranger pretty much exclusively, and I kind of love it!

Taking it to south Jersey early Saturday to see if it floats! Minimal car content here, I’m so excited I just had to tell the world (oppo).

That’s awesome! Where in Jersey you taking it? I learned how to surf in Brigantine and just like you, went searching on CL afterwards. Didn’t see any deals like that though.

My dad found a board in a house to be demolished. We’ve likely had it for 15-20 years. It went camping with us for a long time. I think they still have it.

Belmar, or Ocean City. Where ever the waves are better. I stood up for the first time in NJ, I forget where and have been a few other places since but always renting/borrowing boards. Yea when I saw $75, I thought “I gotta get that!” I’ve never seen anything decent under $300

I’ve always wanted to try kite surfing seems like an easy way to get real banged up though.

I tried windsurfing on my dad’s ~25 year old setup with a few improvised parts, but never fully got the hang of it. Since then I’ve wanted to into it on a new rig but can’t justify the $1,000+ for one. Kite surfing seems like a blast, but again it’s pretty pricy to get into.

Yewww! Nice find man. I got a board off craigslist for $80 before, but that was a longboard that needed pretty significant repairs. I managed to do the fiberglass work myself and was happy with the price, but $75 for something rideable is even better.

HA HA HA, no the gas tank in in the trunk. THey have a tiny ass trunk because of it. GM couldn’t (or more likely wouldn’t) spend the money to get the under car tank to pass US regulations so in the trunk it went.
