prayers, good thoughts, or whatever you have - I’m not picky. Found out he has a mass on his spleen last Friday while getting his vaccines updated prior to my vacation - I asked for my free x-ray that came with my plan. That was followed hours later by an ultra sound which confirmed the finding. Removal surgery is tomorrow. This has a 70% chance of being very bad news. So upset! That will also be 8k I’ve spent on him this year trying to diagnose issues - nice to meet you credit card balance. To make matters worse, I can’t cancel my vacation because... it’s likely the last family vacation I’ll have with someone. Pewpy poop. Send me and him some good vibes and some courage please.

Thanks, I shouldn’t have brought the financial stuff up, but unexpected expenses aren’t making the anxiety better. I doubt I’ll regret paying for the chances though.

I’ve never purchased pet insurance. It usually only covers like 1k of an emergency which wouldn’t have made much of a dent. I have a health plan through my vet that is like 120$ a month and it still doesn’t cover it. I think my vet is private practice which is why nothing is being covered - I hope that makes him a specialist. I don’t know what is going on, I’m just shelling out money to get the dog to live. I do have a lawyer that is already paid, and when I feel better I will pursue this to see if there is wrong doing.

Bloody hell.

My sister has the same breed and is allergic to chicken (and something else but can’t remember off the top of my head). she pays £29 a month and gets £7,000 a year in vets fees (she has to pay an excess of £100), any conditions are covered for life, £1,000 complimentary treatment (£75 excess) a year, £2million an incident for third party liability (£250 excess). That last one I don’t know what it is but it was part of the policy when I was asked to get it for her dog Alfie ((who’s a pain in the butt and will bark if an ant farts three streets away)).

Insurance and medicine in the U.S. is insane.

I can tell you I love this dog more than myself, and almost as much as my children - probably why I paid for a specialized vet instead of commercial. However, I do think it’s possible I was taken advantage of and will look into it eventually.
