Ask a specific data based question. 50% is a guess like “is probably fine”. 20% give you their data but no direct answer. 20% say “I don’t know I have the same question”. 10% talking behind your back (in plain sight) with other posters about how dumb the question is.
I mean at least with oppo there is some smart assery and photoshoots thrown in place of condescention.

5% only commenting on trivial points in the post that don’t answer your question.

Ask about tire fitment, you’ll get 5,270 replies saying “DO A SEARCH, NOOB!” Ask “what should short term fuel trim read for a Vortec 5.7?” ...crickets. Forums are 99% mouth breathers.

...and then five years from now, you’ll get another response or two, resurrecting the thread. And eventually someone will notice how old the thread is, and take a look at your profile to find that they’re speaking to someone who hasn’t logged into the forum for a couple of years...

Ask what kind of oil to use, everyone has a different opinion and using anything other than their suggestion will kill your engine in a month.

Oppo continues to be an amazingly civil place considering how uncivil things are getting these days. I have tried other car forums but found the information specific to what I need lacking. Like only found 2 or 3 subaru oil consumption threads and most of the posts were useless. Me and Trailofbroken headgaskets got more info on OPPO via post/reply than any forum would provide.

How exactly can you tell the specific temperature? If you tell me how you did it maybe I can give you mine so you have a general idea.

For reals. If oppo had the kind of knowledge base of the few forum users that really know there stuff for each model the forum would be dead

The Skoda forum I’m on is great but we do get idiots on both sides.
One guy signed up to the forum and in his first -Newbie and Introduction’ post said hi and that he’d just bought a new Skoda estate and was asking for help because when he drove his car above 40mph with the rear passenger door windows open he got ‘buffeting’ and it was hurting his ears, we all asked if he was serious and pointed out you’ll get that in any car especially noticeable in an estate car if the front windows aren’t open a little to equalise the pressure as the air was coming in the cabin and getting pushed towards the rear and air trapped in the rear of the cabin was getting pushed forward.
Some of the banter got a little much for him and his second post on the forum was to say he was leaving as we weren’t helping and that he’d never experienced it in a car in his 40+ years of driving.
We explained it sympathetically, even explained it in depth how air flows around the car it different ways when certain windows are open and others closed, but the banter was too much for him.
On a detailing forum I’m on the common silly question is what’s the best wax to use?
Well that depends on what you want from a wax, protection, gloss, depth of shine, durability, colour of car, how much time you’ve got to apply it, what condition is it going to be applied in, etc...

RTFM and search
But on a serious note. You said you did the TStat. A good start. You flushed the coolant. Did you bleed it correctly? You’re worried about a shitty radiator. When does it happen? If on the highway I’m really doubtful it’s the radiator. If it’s when you’re idling, does it get worse or better if you rev it? If it gets better w/ rev it could be your water pump...?
Coolant systems are super duper basic and 100% mechanical. The temperature gets to a certain point. The valve opens. A clutchless mechanical pump circulates fluid through a heat exchanger. Things cool off. The valve closes. That’s really all there is to it. If it stays too hot during the “things cool off” stage then it’s either the valve didn’t open, the pump didn’t circulate, or the heat exchanger didn’t work. I really don’t think it’s the third.
Don’t forget, you can always idle it and spray the rad with a hose.

Forums are full of blowhards who think they know what they’re talking about but are too dumb to realize they don’t. It’s like listening to a couple of 12 year olds in study hall arguing the merits of Ferrari vs. Lamborghini.

Most forums are only good for modding. Anything OEM or technical is usually way beyond their scope of understanding. I am a member of a few forums (T4R, Tacomaworld) and their membership includes a few who know their stuff and a vast majority that just want to complain. The best way to get an answer to a tech OEM question is go to the dealer or to the OEM. Never forums.
