Does anyone know how I’m supposed to use this type of fastener? I’m assuming it’s some kind of rivet..?

Those are pop rivets, and you need this:

Squeeze to pull through and expand the rivets, when they’re fully in they break off flush.

It’s a pop rivet, you need a little hand riveter:

Is that a speaker cover? Whatever it is, I love that it’s that Mazda logo. I’ve been contemplating how to swap out the “Flying M” on my 3 for that logo for a while.

And those definitely look like rivets to me. If so, you need a rivet tool like so:

It is! I decided to spruce the interior up a bit while doing my sound system. So new door cards from carbonmiata in black brushed steel with matching speaker grills.

Well yes you know that it is now. But how to use it... Remove rivets, place onto item to be fastened onto item to be fastened to, hold or tape in place, drill hole through fastened to piece, insert rivet through both holes, apply the hand tool over the rivet and then squeeze. The ball on the end of the rivet will work it’s way up, and has a pinch in it so that when both items are tight it will pop the middle piece out. And it is fastened in place.

Cheers.

Is there some kind of mesh that is also part of that speaker grill?

Nope. Fine for normal driving, but when I do rallys and general dirt road hooning I’ll put a screen over them with magnets!

I just think it would look better with some black mesh sandwiched in there.
