All my friends came from shelters. ONE RULE: YOU DON’T FUCKING GET TO TAKE THEM BACK!!!!! NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER.
My SIL took a cat back to the shelter because of problems litter training. My kids will never forgive her.
Rant over.

I just hope you don’t call them your fur babies.
This post sounds really close to the typical holier than thou Facebook post from pet owners.
You don’t owe the animals anything. You’d rather have someone keep a pet that just won’t fit into their lifestyle?
Attempting to adopt an animal is still better than not trying or over paying a breeder. Then dumping it on craigslist.

I agree taking one back due to litter training issues is a dick move, and I think people should always try that little bit harder with rescue animals.
But there is always an exception.
My best mate had to take back a dog he adopted a few years ago. He just got really snappy and bit him a few times, pretty hard and he was a big dog (we think German Shepard\Lab cross). He has had dogs all his life without issue but could just not train it out of him, was heart breaking for all involved, I mean I have never seen him cry like he did that day.

I took a dog back, because it actually attacked and bit my wife multiple times. Unprovoked.
I hated it because the dog loved me, but prior to the attack it always showed aggressive behavior to my wife. The dog was not suited to a home with women. We took prior step beforehand, worked with a trainer and we’re never heavy handed with treatment or discipline.

As much as it pains me to support someone as terrible as her, I have to side with her on this completely.
Firstly, she didn’t return it to the shelter, she paid to send it to this place: http://www.thezendog.com/introduction/
Secondly, the owner of the Brooklyn shelter sounds like a complete asshole. She was something like, the forth person to adopt that dog and return it. That doesn’t happen without some severe behavioral issues.
This is what the guy at the rehabilitation center said:
Matt Beisner , owner of the Zen Dog, told People magazine in comments posted Sunday that the actress was a “really proactive, diligent” pet owner” and that she reached out to him for help with Lamby last year after working with six other trainers. He said she was “at her wit’s end,” adding that the dog was “really aggressive” at the time.
“He didn’t want to be touched and he didn’t want to be handled,” Beisner said. “When he came to us, there were days where we had to carry his crate out to the yard and open it to let him come out because we couldn’t safely put our hands near him to get a leash on him to walk him.”

This really pissed me off. I’ve adopted every dog I’ve had and would NEVER take any of them back to a shelter. Some have been harder than other and never once thought of throwing in the towel.

This reminds me of some people I used to know. They had two puppies. One was a pure bred and wild child. Didn’t listen. Always going crazy at the park. The other was a mutt. Super sweet. Always just hung out with the people and just wanted pet. They always would say how bad of a dog she was at home. Then one day mutt is gone and they have another pure bred puppy. Almost as wild as the other. They said they had to give her up because she was alway tearing up the house and causing problems. Then they got another pure bred puppy. I stopped going to the park but I heard those dogs never got better behaved.
Lena Dunham (can’t stand her anyway) gets a dog that may or may not have had issues. Gives it up after getting 2 puppies.
My mom has a few rescues with behavior issues. She’s done a lot with them and while not perfect they’re way better than they used to be. It’s doable with work
Many celebrities don’t have the lifestyle required to give the support and consistency that rescues with issues need.

My cat still has issues going in the box... I’ve had him for six years now. He also needs special ($$$$$) food because of his kitty IBS... I mean... It’s an absolute disaster if he does not get that food. He’s also had a UTI... Basically NO ONE on this planet will put up with a cat like this except us.

My cats look exactly like that first picture, but if they were fighting instead of cuddling. Oh well, we love them both anyways.
