‘02 Miata SE, ‘77 Jaguar XJ-S, ‘86 Mustang LX. Kinda sad I’m gonna have to sell the Mustang. It’s such a good little car but the slowest and worst handling of the fleet.

Wasn’t the Stang orininally supposed to be your girlfriend’s car, or so?

Those years aren’t too far off from my fleet (‘02, ‘85, ‘71). If the Jag was green, we’d match on colors too.

I’m sure Oppo will be sad to see the Mustang go. That said, the other two more than make up for it (especially the jag).

Sorry to grave-dig but have you ever searched your Miata VIN to see which ‘02 SE # you have? http://stg.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/pdf/faq/2002_Miata_Special_Edition.pdf

Your Miata popped into my head after I talked to a seller on FB who’s parting out an ‘00 and ‘01 SE. I just want to help document spotted SEs, especially if they’re going to be scrapped soon.

Gonna go out on a limb and guess you found Mike Kendall’s post? :P I badly wanted that wooden steering wheel but couldn’t afford it at the moment. I remember finding my VIN in that pdf at one point but it wasn’t an interesting enough number to remember

Yeah, that’d be the one. Also, the Miata is fixed to the tune of $1,500 (not counting the towing bill). There was so much carbon building on the piston, cylinder head, and the valves that the valves themselves couldn’t fully close and seal. I guess either the previous owner ran this motor on 87 instead of premium or I need get the gas tank replaced.

On the plus side, my cylinder head was machined so it’s going to be a healthy motor for a while! I’m going to start searching to up the effectiveness of oil catch cans for Miatas, I don’t want to gunk-up this like-new head and valves with shitty oil vapors.

Yeah. Friend of mine had an NA8 that did the same thing. Helped him clean it off and lap the valves. Was a good time.
