Looks like I will be doing my first long road trip in the GTO this weekend driving from San Luis Obispo, California to Denver, Colorado.

This is my planned route. Anything I must absolutely stop and see along the way? Definitely not my first time to Vegas, so that will just be a drive through.

Will a recent oil change and new tires, this drive should be great *knock on wood*

if it were me I would do this route through utah

cut off athighway 14 to 89 then 12 to 24 before getting back to 70. If you felt like it you could cut off even earlier on 9 and pay to drive through Zion...but its not cheap. 12 is free and will blow your mind.

I have driven through Utah twice before, once through Zion, so not missing much really. But Maybe I can hit that road on the way back

Zion is pretty neat, but I think you’d regret not doing 12 one way or the other...even in the dark its certainly a lively road. huge elevation changes and lots of curves.

there is one stretch of 24 you might enjoy too. several miles of deserted completely straight highway

That route through hwy 285 in Colorado is so much more enjoyable than I70.

I-70 is the fastest way through denver. The scenery isn’t bad, but there’s so much to see off that highway. At least you’ll pass through Glenwood Canyon.  

You going to be hanging around Denver for a bit?

How bad is traffic in San Luis Obispo? I am thinking about staying at the Marriott about 4.4mikes from Cal PolTech but will stay closer if the traffic is really bad.
