I’ve been running around in this a bit. Tomorrow there’s a good chance I’ll be taking it up Mt. Evans. AMA about it or just throw the usual insults.
Before you judge too much, you should know that the owner is a real car gal. Her car history includes a ‘55 Mercedes 190SL, a Morris Minor, a ‘68 Plymouth Barracuda convertible, and a ‘76 El Dorado convertible which used to belong to a fire chief and still had the siren. Lots more stuff besides, including an unspecified old Fiat and a 60's Mercedes sedan. This X6 replaced her Range Rover, but itself is going to be on the way out the door this year to make way for a Model X.

Is it a whiny turdbiscuit?

No, I believe that’s me.

What size tires are those? The tears look pretty wide? Also obligatory how many mpgs and is that an M car/crossover/thing?

Still hideous

I drove a new X6 xDrive35i M Sport recently. What a car. I want one, but unfortunately there’s a $68k price between us.

I’d have to check the tire, and I haven’t been watching the MPG, so I guess I’ll go with the the EPA rating of 18/24. And it’s a sport package, not an M.

It’s not *that* bad.

That’s exactly what this is.

I respect your right to have an opinion

How considerate of you.

I just don’t get these. The only thing I can think of is that you ride and get to see higher. A car would handle better and a wagon or more traditional SUV/crossover would hold more stuff. In my opinion I don’t think they make up with it in looks either. But I like how a regular SUV looks. The proportions just seem wrong to me when they go for the sedan/coupe profile.

I drove one as pictured. Carbon black Metallic and those wheels with tinted windows and black ventilated dakota leather

It actually seems a bit roomier inside than a sedan. I thing the bottom line is that the owner lives in Colorado and wanted the perceived advantages of a tall AWD vehicle while still having something sporty, and she likes the look of the X6.

It seemed like a good idea at the time

Well the 5GT becoming the 6GT it moved (slightly) down in the ugly ranking, yeah it’s bad in comparison.

Fair enough, whatever floats her boat. In my opinion people can do whatever they want. That makes sense for Colorado winter and if she likes the look then it’s probably perfect for her.

Is that carbon black?
Aaaaand... friend of mine who works at BMW R&D called it a “Drecksau” as in filthy pig, meaning that the hsndling is actually great and it lets you do stupid things given the weight and size. Can you confirm?

I have no idea. It’s black.
I haven’t had the chance to push it, but yeah the feel and response seems very good for a big crossover.
