I have the misfortune of having numerous scars on my head that make a clean shave unappealing. Thankfully for me close cropped hair with a beard is somewhat acceptable stylistically now. For once I was ahead of the curve.

I’m not afflicted as such, but seem to be gaining hair in unattractive ways, I’ve had the unibrow since boyhood, but now it’s creeping across my temples trying to join up with my head hair to form an uninterupted ring cutting off my forehead and making it a flesh island above the “omibrow”. yet my patch of chest hair remains unimpressive. also hobbit feet.

14 years ago, I started shaving my head. I had always used clippers, and wondered what it would be like if I just finished it off. I liked it and have been doing it since.

Occasionally I let my hair grow out when I get tired of all the maintenance, generally for about a month. It seems every time I do, I end up helping my mom with something. She inevitably takes that time to point out how my hairline is receding and my hair is thinning on top.

I usually remind her how that’s a good way to get me to not help her.
