The 2005 Honda CBR 1000RR Repsol edition.

It’s my dad’s bike and unfortunately it doesn’t leave the garage much. It doesn’t even have 8,000 miles. I take it out every once in a while to keep the fluids moving.

Kinja'd!!!

It’s a gorgeous bike in my opinion. It’s plenty fast. Sure, it can’t compete with the electronics-ridden tackle on sale today. But damn if it doesn’t look better than them.

Kinja'd!!!

The angular bodywork, a proportionally correct tail unit, and a center exit exhaust routed under the seat. To me, it seemed a spitting image of Hayden’s RC211V.

When this design hit the market back in 2004, I thought, “How could anything look more right  than this? Surely this is the peak.”

And, as it turns out, it sort of was the peak. For looks, anyway. My opinion, of course.

Honda, what happened?

Only in bike racing is the bottom of the vehicle a valid location to put a sponsor’s logo.

I love the REPSOL edition CBRs. If I did bikes, this would be the only way to go for me.

Love that generation RR, but once I borrowed a buddy’s RC51, every other Honda (even the Blackbird, which is lovely) was ruined for me.

I wake at night thinking of that bike.

I got to take my 919 to the office today, that was great.

I do love that paint job/body style

It is wonderful to ride. It’s truly hard to find faults. Fairly comfortable for a bike like this too.

My friend had an RC51 years back, I rode it once. It was a great ride. I still keep an eye out for one at a good price, but I think the days of cheap, clean RC51s are over now.
