My coastal town in the UK, Shoreham-By-Sea has a rich history with the Canadian Armed Forces (amongst many other things), there was a Garrison here during both WW1 and WW2, as our town was a point of setting off for D-day. Anyway, there’s a large roundabout that has a D-day landing craft on display as decoration, usually flying a union jack, I noticed yesterday that the Canadian flag had been raised to celebrate Canada day, the Canadian involvement in Shoreham will not be forgotten and their sacrifice for Britain and Europe will not either.
Happy Canada Day (a day late)

Don’t thank me, thank the members of the public who maintain the landing craft area, it’s not by the authorities. This was also used in Saving Private Ryan.
The Fiat post in spoke about yesterday is up too.

Thanks, there’s a lot of interesting stories about Shoreham during the wars what with being on the south coast, being a Canadian camp, an RAF camp (I live on the former camp, but there’s no physical indication it was here anymore) having a port and it’s home to the oldest commercial airport in the UK.

Hey I remember you, you moved over here for work? But are currently sans a vehicle. We should hang out sometime, maybe hit up Goodwood Breakfast club one Sunday morning, I’d give you a ride if you are car-less.

Sounds great to me. Wanted to make it out to FOS this year but it just didn’t happen.

The next breakfast club is 6th August

I think you need to “sign up” for a free ticket now, something to do with tightened security across all Goodwood events. Do you have Twitter? Be a good way to coordinate meeting up on the day. Maybe some of the other local Oppos will be there too.
