I’d still rather shoot an AA-12.

Guns are fun to shoot. I learned from a very early age how to use pistols and rifles properly and safely. Here, even the most liberal of my acquaintances like to go to the range and shoot.
In the state I live, we have plenty of ranches and rural areas. Visiting those properties without being heeled (carrying a gun) can be a deadly mistake. If someone walks up on a Javelina, wild boar, rutting buck, venomous snake (some species around here are actually aggressive in nature and will attack you), or large cat (mountain lion) and they don’t have a weapon, they could potentially (and very easily) die. Hell, I’ve once had to draw my rifle on a bull after accidentally walking close to him at night in a pasture. Luckily, he didn’t charge, but he sure as shit threatened to. Ever had a 1,000 pound plus animal with horns act like he was going to gore you to death?
Being proficient with firearms means that you can protect yourself in these situations. It usually isn’t about bad guys coming to steal from you; it’s about keeping yourself safe and/or hunting. These AKs are just fun adult toys to these guys. They respect the rifles, but it’s fun to expand on your skills and shoot something like this.
Come on out to Texas and visit a ranch. We’ll give you a sidearm if you want to walk the land.

Probably not, he’s from Australia, and I’ve never seen a serious Australian. They are chill AF and Funny.

Hmm. Yes, that would be fun.
I’ve thought about owning a SAIGA in 12 gauge too.

Isn’t converting weapons for full auto firing illegal? I know there are grandfathered weapons but I thought they were older (also very expensive to own)?

I’ll keep it as simple as possible...
There is a lot more to it than that and it is explained a little bit in the beginning of the video, but basically you have to have specific Federal Firearm Licensing (FFL) to either import, deal, or deal and manufacture certain types of NFA classed weapons.
The two firearms in the video belong to a firearms dealer and are likely considered manufactured “post-samples” (post-1986 FOPA). These cannot be sold/transferred to anyone else except to other certain FFL holders with the right license or to certain LE/MIL. Once no longer wanted or needed, they’re destroyed.
“Transferrable” select fire pre-1986 guns and gun parts (auto/select fire sears) are out there, but you’ve still got to have the right licensing and approval from the ATF to own one in your name.
