Jack Baruth explains it best but it is surprising that only the Durango has a “muscle” variant without buying a luxury car
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I don’t think that its going to save the enthusiast but it does seem like it would make money

Nissan did. Limited slip, short ratio 6spd, Recaros.

Because absolutely no one (almost no one, shut up) buying a crossover cares about performance. Even in the luxury market, it’s not about the added performance, but the added exclusivity.

My intuition says no one would buy it because crossovers are focused at people who don’t really care about cars. But people buy V6 Camrys which is like a muscle piece of Wonder Bread so what do I know?

3rd gen Toyota rav4 V6 was pretty hot. Almost all the XT foresters were pretty hot stuff (especially the SG). Generally speaking...people care about performance crossovers like I care for Jack Baruth (not at all)

I think muscle implies RWD and crossovers just aren’t. That said, a V8 Mustang or Camaro platform crossover would be interesting.

There is such a thing as a CR-V Si. Unfortunately it costs $35k and has a beak on the front.

THE ONLY WAY
how does this man get paid?

But there are.

Yeah, that’s a great idea. It would definitely help justify the cost of platform development for those vehicles.
I just think of all the people who want a pony car but their spouses say that it needs four doors and be more practical (this, this is my situation). A camaro or mustang based crossover would sell.

I mean, sub $50k would be nice lol

By saying ridiculous things lol

Honestly because for the most part, crossovers are marketed toward women. If you’re a dad and you walk onto any car lot that has full-size SUVs that’s what they’re steering you to or a truck. If you’re a mom crossover first.

The new GLC-63 AMG with the V8 will certainly be a muscle crossover.

It’ll also be over $80k, I’m curious about the lack of non-luxury muscle crossovers

So, cars like the Subaru Forester STI and Mitsubishi Airtrek Turbo R?

Chevrolet tried.

All I know is that oppo gets under his skin and that brings me some joy.

I mean 264hp in a car that size isn’t exactly crazy. It’s X5 sized when the X5M was pumping out nearly double the power
![]() 06/27/2017 at 21:02 |

I’m just thinking about a company doing something significantly over 300hp at least. Something the size of the new Equinox but with the Camaro V6 or 5.3L V8 would be a good start.
![]() 06/27/2017 at 21:02 |

Well that’s more a crossover between an obscenity and a vulgarity
![]() 06/27/2017 at 21:05 |

Yeah, the only crossovers that seem to be remotely marketed towards men are Jeeps. Everything else is BOF

Like an Escape ST?
The closest thing we have is the 2.0 Tiguan with 4 motion. Pretty much a GTI engine and Golf R Haldex system, but no one bats an eye at it.

The Focus RS engine in the escape? I know the MKC does it but it’s tuned for smoothness. If it was tuned like the RS, that would be a heck of a crossover

I’d rather owe it to you than cheat you out of it.

The X5 M was playing in a whole nother league. I’m not even sure if both of them were on the market at the same time.

I bet an aftermarket company would happily oblige.
The idea of a baldy crossover is extremely enticing to me.
![]() 06/28/2017 at 09:54 |

Oh yeah, but that’s what you’re paying for. If the Equinox would have had 364, that would have been a hot crossover
![]() 06/28/2017 at 10:02 |

350hp in a non-premium compact crossover would sell. It would be the one all the husbands buy

Was the Journey with 290 hp the closest thing?
![]() 06/28/2017 at 15:47 |

Probably, but it’s a seven seat midsize isn’t it? A hot one of those would have to be at least 400 hp

HEMI swap.
