SV650 is still the best motorcycle ever.

I really want one of those. It seems to be enough power, and doesn’t put the rider in a painful position; I’m just not the right shape or young enough to ride sportbikes any more.

I used to hate V-twins until I helped a friend of mine buy an Intruder 700 back in the late ‘80s/early ‘90s (I got his old XS400 for the assistance, another bike I wish I still had). I didn’t realize until I rode that Intruder that V-twins didn’t need to be coarse and lumpy. As much as I liked the engine in the Intruder, I have never been the type to buy a cruiser. The SV650 seems like the perfect style for me.

I absolutely adore mine. I’ve had it for probably 6 years, and haven’t gotten tired of it yet. The seating position (on the N model) is so much more comfortable than a traditional sportbike, and you’ve got a ton of leverage to throw it around. Plus, the torque is enough to stay even with stuff with WAY more power.

I wrote this for Lanesplitter a while back: http://lanesplitter.jalopnik.com/the-suzuki-sv650-is-the-answer-to-everything-on-two-whe-1790626299

A supermoto is a bike that can do everything, including embarrassing sport bikes on tracks. And wheelies on supermotos won’t destroy the engine.

Having just ridden the trails near my hotel for this weekend trip, I disagree.

KLR 650 > SV 650

Everyone I’ve known who had a supermoto hated riding above 70mph on it.

Well they aren’t made for going that fast, supermotos have short gears, an extremely upright riding position and no fairing. The comparison to an SV650 is like comparing a EB Mustang to an Ariel Nomad.

Why not both?

True. I’m just saying, if it can’t cruise at highway speeds, it’s not the bike that can do anything.

The Husqvarna 701 SM will top 120 mph, which is slower than the SV650s 135, but I still think it’ll be ok on the highway.

How does the SV take jumps?

I literally just saw this, and kind wish I would have seen this earlier. I got a sv650 on 6/26/2017, by the time you posted this I already had a deposit down and was waiting for delivery. I absolutely love it. I cannot stop riding it and grin ear-to-ear every time I walk out to it.

Gorgeous! I haven’t gotten a good look at the new ones, and that is just stunning.
