The only reason for this is if you’re using unfiltered water. Otherwise, there is nothing different. If the water has dissolved solids, they may interact with the RF, but otherwise it can not change the water in any way, hence will not change the taste.

Tea fell out of favour to quite a degree when coffee became more and more popular.
There are still many tea drinkers and each have their own preferred way of doing things which others scoff at.
In the most part hardly anyone makes it using a teapot any more and different types of tea bag (round, square, rectangle or pyramid) are preferred.
Ireland drinks more tea that us Brits, by a long way.

I’ll let you argue with a tea drinker when it comes to taste but I do notice a difference.
I like a cup of tea from time to time.
I have noticed on several occasions that microwaving water leaves an oily film on the top.

I’ve noticed it whether I’m in Cumbria, Yorkshire, Scotland, Northern Ireland, etc... All different water authorities.

It shouldn’t film up like that, that can mean many things though, from lots of minerals to oil to petroleum based products(though this oily film will be rainbow color).

A friend of mine bought his wife one of those fancy Breville tea makers:
At first I thought it seemed like an awful lot of money for making tea, but let me tell you, that made some of the best tea I’ve had. I even used my standard loose Earl Grey, and the same tea tasted so much better coming out of that machine. If you consume a fair amount of tea and have $250 to spare, this machine is well worth purchasing.

Nothing if you are using it to looses the gross inside the microwave to make it clean easier. Other than that, everything.

Microwaves are inaccurate. It’s usually either too hot or too cold which will mess up your brew. Heating water in a microwave should be reserved for reheating food so that you don’t dry it out.

I’m an American, but I was always told to never microwave just water in the microwave. Idk why.
