I still say that making a bunch of cars that look really good inside and out is more important than making a bunch of cars that look way different from each other.

Quattro decal looks great.

Right? Not too boy-racer or flashy, but a sporty touch.

On the other hand, if your cars all look wildly different than one another, your designers may be *just drunk enough* that they’ll stumble on some real gems.

It’s the stamp that states that he actually knows about the car he bought.

Absolutely true. The Buick for example is a work of art.

My only point was that people complain “Oh, Audis all look the same, I can’t tell an R8 from a Q3!” yet the design language works very well and has resulted in a current lineup consisting only of attractive cars.

Ford in the ‘60s was somewhere in the middle. There was a sort of agreed-on theme set of round taillights (later, square) and either “gulper face” or Thunderbird face, but enough difference between models in quirky ways and enough similarity it was just *right*.

Harmony, in other words.

Related : My wife is driving a loaner Q5 today. It is not good. It is fully stocked with gadgets, and beeps constantly at every minor bit of road debris or foliage.

I was expecting an A4, hoping for an A6, dreaming of an A8. I never considered they would put her in an SUV.

I would think (and hope) you could switch that stuff off.

Yes, I’m sure you can. But this loaner doesn’t have a manual. I’ll have to poke around at it.

Mmmm, S6. A supercar-killing sleeper with reservedly handsome looks. I love these.
