What a pair.
The Z1 was BMW’s first “Z” car, produced from 89 to 91. They’re extremely rare and therefore quite expensive. This is only the second one I’ve seen IRL, and the first was at the Greenwich Concours D’ Elegance. The doors are the most exciting part about the car; they slide down and disappear into the rockers. Totally outlandish.
Car guy on the right, friends on the left. He’s explaining the doors... *mind blown* (just look at those facial expressions).
Check out the wood trim in here... it’s EVERYWHERE. Imagine the cost of replacing that steering wheel!? Now that is truly opulent.
The business end, with a curiously small armrest.
Unlike the lead image, this angle captures the difference in size between the two cars. You could probably fit the Z1 in the cabin of the 600.
Another one! Not as nice as the first though, it looked like a driver. Normally I’m all about that, but I can’t abide by tint on something like this. Note how small the 600 makes that Panamera look!
The owner was standing around answering questions, and I overheard the following story: Apparently new wheels for this are incredibly expensive. After doing some research, he found out that Ford Transit steelies have the same bolt pattern. It was important to source cheap wheels because instead of having to manually adjust the brakes via taking the wheels off every so often, he drilled a hole in one of them to access the adjuster. The test worked out, and he’ll be drilling the rest just like that.
Extremely agricultural. Bonus points to anyone who can identify the 3 brightly colored levers to the right of the steering wheel.
Not an 850 (hence the debadge, I bet), but still exciting thanks to three pedals and a blower.
Lots of Alpina goodies inside and out.
Incredibly aggressive. Driving around Boston with that CF splitter must be... interesting?
A pre BMW Glas roadster. According to the owner, it’s the only one in the US.
Given that the roadster was designed by Frua, it comes as no surprise that the interior looks extremely Italian (I’m looking at you, Alfa Spider).
A nice surprise! I think they fixed it.
Definitely one of the best color combinations at the show. The owner said that the paint is original, but so unusual that Mercedes couldn’t find a color code for him when he wanted to order touch up paint.
As always, the MB tex seats have held up incredibly well.
Speaking of interesting colors, this was another good one. It’s ever so slightly purple, but not too much.
Obligatory E9.
Mini Opel section.
Imagine the maintenance!? Worth the price for the sound though, no doubt. Props to whoever drives this.
Audi aficionados, is this real?

I REALLY wish they had ownership histories on display, that would’ve been great.
The Z1 was perfect, from the color combo to the condition.

I think when the 107 was made, the paint code should be on the data tag, or on another tag near it. Of course, those can go missing over time. I suspect it is leather.

The owner is a regular, I’ll have to ask about those tags.
