I know the feels. The Niva is still running on gas that I got while driving back from the Lemons Rally. In February...
I found a guy willing to give me a hand with the Niva’s trans, now just need to find a place to do it that’s not the street.
Do not give up on the shoebox. You need it as much as it needs you. It may be a long and laborious road to true long-distance roadworthiness (autocorrect prefers “roadworthy mess”... discribes most of my junk, lol) but it will be worth it.

That headliner alone is worth any amount of driveway fluid leaks, busted knuckles, and suspension parts. The plaid seats are just the icing on the cake.
