It’s got a billion miles but it’s in fantastic condition... and just $2,700? That’s squarely in “why the fuck not” territory.

But no. I must resist. I dare not dream. I dare not want. I am strong.

It’s at the point where if it hasn’t died yet, it most likely never will.

You think it is a good idea, but it is not. TheHondaBro will make your live a living hell if you get that before he does. Don’t do it!

Harold is now 4Runner heir elitist pig, too good for lowly 90s Lexus

196k miles: “Hmm, shit’s gonna start breaking down.”
297k miles: “Wow! It’s like new!”

If its squarely in why tf not territory, and it would make you happy, well then... why the fuck not?

Do it

Don’t these more or less use an older, smaller version of the 4.7L V8 that million mile Tundra had? And the same V8 as that million mile LS400?
In other words, the car would probably out live you. Do it!

Drive it. That gen gs/is/sc/ls are all indestructible. Having owned 3rd gen 4runners, they are even more reliable than the toyota trucks...which is quite reliable. The most impressive part is that they just never feel tired. My gs300 at 200k miles was tighter than most newish cars.

It has the 1UZ 4.0 V8 yes, the 4.7 you describe is indeed the 2UZ seen in Sequoias, Tundras, and some 4Runners.

Because I have issues with making sensible decisions:

I don’t think you can handle all that power, coming from a Tercel and 4-Cy Toyota pickups.

Seattle Oppo’s joint car ownership..? I’m tired of 4 cylinders...

You’re preaching to the choir. I’ve never bought a car with more than 4 cylinders...

Biggest engine on any car I’ve owned was a 2.7 L flat 6.

The v8 engine in that Era Toyota(like the ls400) is awesome. Go for it

If I needed a car and didn’t need money (and it was a manual), I’d be all over this.
You should buy it.

Let me see if I can help here: As the newest owner of a 200k mile miata, let me just tell you that you have to be prepared to opening your wallet to things that most people don’t even consider as wear items. Things like bushings break down so slowly that no one realizes it. I’m finishing up doing all my suspension bushings now and it’s not fun. In most cases, it’s way easier to replace an entire control arm. Basically anything rubber is hardened. Brake lines, weather stripping, hoses, etc are all ticking time bombs. What is the state of the fuel pump? How about silly things like the wiper motor? How long can those go for in a place where it rains a lot?
Having said all of that, go for it ;) Haha.

You better buy it, if i was closer I would.

Wow! Good thing that’s on the west coast because I miss the 1999 SC300 I recently sold. I will forever love the look of these!
