As I was walking out of Walgreen’s after picking up a father’s day card for my dad, this 645Ci performed a stereotypical BMW parking job. Technically the Explorer was already over the line to their left, but the BMW driver could just as easily have parked in the space on the right. But they didn’t, because BMW.
I on the other hand !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! exactly !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! to do when confronted with improperly-parked cars while driving a BMW.

I have noticed that people will almost always locate off of the car or object next to them instead of the lines.

Quite honestly, I’d do the same if the car next to me is way over the line like that. I know it created a domino effect but I don’t like door dings or the possibility of having my doors smashed by some idiot trying to back out of a spot.

The Escort wagon to the right is also parked off-centre.
This is where a beater Corolla needs to take one for the team, and park that Explorer in. I’m known to do that with my Accord.

Well hey, the Escort is only touching the line, not all the way over it. That makes a difference!

Pretty sure that’s exactly the case here.
I’ve never been able to relate to this way of thinking. Since when are other drivers a reliable reference point?

The car next to you is easier to see than the line on the ground by your tires.

Also, the line on thenground won’t ding your door.

but the BMW driver could just as easily have parked in the space on the right.
Counterpoint, this leaves space of just smaller than a spot, then come along some idiot in a beater Corolla trying to squeeze into that space, risking hitting both the BMW and the Explorer.
Not that I condone the behaviour of all 3 above.

You have described exactly what I would expect to happen next in that situation.
