Despite oppos best efforts last night, I have succumbed. I done bought another gitar
Quick review:
Playing this in open d with a brass slide is almost a religious experience. It feels so human and vocal, and very very American. It’s much louder than a regular acoustic, and plays okay, but the action is a little high as you’d expect.
It looks like a piece of jewelry, and everytime I see it I cannot believe I own it. Keep a microfiber handy.

Damn, now I’m here looking at resonators. I’m already at peak guitar.

Is it finished? There are parts of the fret board that aren’t blinding me.

You probably should have gone for the shiny version.
Seriously though, who was trying to talk you out of buying that? I’m not a resonator guy, but thats fantastic.

Get a nut riser and play it with a pedal steel slide. Talk about a religious experience. It’s a Dobro, for god’s sake. (cf. any record that Al Perkins ever played on, I recommend Jimmie Dale Gilmour’s “Spinning Around the Sun” (the opening of “Another Colorado” is the platonic ideal and peak of dobro playing) but anything will do really.)

I was in Nashville for business last July and had some time to kill. I made the mistake of going to Gruhn. I played 20 guitars for fun, never planning to buy anything, perfectly happy with the 30 year old Guild jumbo I have at home. But I picked up a 20 year old Martin HD-28VS and within 45 seconds I knew I was going to buy it. I just didn’t know how much I was going to pay. $4,500 later it was mine (I did not actually have $4,500 dollars but that’s where Discover Card comes in). Even after a year I can’t believe it’s mine and I feel guilty that someone much more talented doesn’t have it. It’s like a living, breathing animal and I dote on it like a worried father. I play it for guests, despite my stage fright, so they can hear how great it sounds. My much more talented friend played three chords on it and just said, “uh. . . holy shit . . . I don’t know what to say”. Guitars can change your life.
