Klaus informed me what sta-bil is so a good degreaser (something like Bilt Hamber Surfex degreaser which is water based), allow to dwell for a short period and agitate with a brush in, if possible, small circular motions to help foam up and then wet vacuum up, repeat till area is satisfactorily clean.

I had a quart of oil tip over and leak in the rear footwell of my old crown vic.
Any opened containers now get put somewhere they cannot tip...
