In April, I bought this 97 850 T-5 for $400. It wasn’t running, wasn’t building any compression. Sprayed some starter fluid in and it cranked (don’t ask me how, I was just as baffled). Determined it was a bad fuel pump. Got it home on tow truck, sprinted to the junkyard downtown right before they closed, and got an S70 fuel pump. Cost me 15 dollars and 10 minutes of my time. Anyway, got it running the same day. Cleaned out the PCV (removing the intake and all) and it’s running well for the past month! Even has AC now!

I see this sad V70 XC every day, and always feel bad for it:

I think it’s probably just abandoned at this point. It needs at least a new tire and new driver-side rear window, plus some sticker removal, though I imagine there’s some more serious reason for the neglect. I’d be tempted to try fixing it if I could acquire it inexpensively, there are always uses for AWD wagons.

With how cheap 850s and s70s are nowadays its hard not to pick them up. I love them.
