I forgot I had these to go in the Z, I have a bag of crap to work on after it is actually back. The boots are leather and should be nice over time, I will have to see how I like the knob, I like it now but I will see how I like it in action.

Any recommendations on where to get a decent knob and boot? I need to replace the whole setup on my girlfriend’s 2006 Civic.

Yeah I had thought of that, we’ll see. The one I have now is a 70's pleather with a red circle on top, not original but period correct.

Get a crown royal bag and stick it over it, haha.

I think I got these from a classic car interior place, they make them up. I know I looked at this one

Ive had a similar knob for about a year now. It can get burning hot in the sun, the paint will eventually fall off (mine did about a month ago) but other than that it’s not been bad. I like the weight and it fits in the palm nicely.

This one is bare brushed aluminum. I read some people don’t mind them in the cooler months, I will try it in a couple weeks when the car is back together.

My problem was greatly exacerbated by the hole in the tranny tunnel under it which funneled in hot exhaust.

I think the Z is just open to the space over the tranny and under the rubber seal, open to the outside. I’m sure the heat will travel along anything connected by metal. I am planning to put some fatmat in the footwells to insulate, it got toasty on a hot day.

Just take the pain and pretend it’s fine. And/or an excuse to wear driving gloves.

I’ve been looking at the Raceseng website, the Slammer is nice. Many pro knobs are metal so I don’t think it could be that bad. This kind with holes are cool but so far I read the weighted ones are nice.

Personally I find the weight nice because you can sort of toss it into gears. But I do have a very notchy shifter and had to get that heavy knob and an extension(for leverage) to smoothly get gears. Either way I’d prefer the weight and size though

Yeah I want to try the weight. The Z stick is really light. The Raceseng brand has a heavy one but they are $$, I’ll try this first, I think the big ball will suit my ergonomics style, the thing is so close to me it’s like a side grip for 1st to 2nd.
