What you do for every medical visit is bring a good book that you want to read. It guarantees that you’ll get called back quickly. If you bring something boring or nothing at all, you will sit in the waiting room forever.

Also, good on you for regular dental appointments.

My dentist’s office is super sticklery about being on time. If you get there 4 minutes or more past the start of your appointment time they give you intense side-eye and make passive-aggressive comments about having to rush through your appointment.

It’s also the type of place where you get one of several hygenists who do basically everything for a routine teeth cleaning appointment but then the one dentist for the whole place swoops in and does a quick peek in your mouth and then disappears.

I just keep going because they take my insurance and I don’t feel like finding some other place.

Luckily this place is small and it’s pretty chill. Every time I go it’s never crowded or no one’s in a rush.

You should always get to your dentist’s office early so that when you leave you realize you wasted half an hour getting there early only to be called in 20 minutes after your actual appointment time.

My brother-in-law is a dentist and a partner in this huge clinic 2 hours away. My wife goes to him in spite of the drive, and the fact we have dental coverage, because he charges her like 5 bucks and he’s her brother.

I personally would rather go to an in-town dentist and arrive to work slightly later than usual than make a 4 hour round trip. But hey, if we ever don’t have dental coverage...

The oral surgeon demands that I arrive 15 minutes before my appointment time. I told them I’d be happy to do that just as soon as they actually see me at or within 5 minutes of my appointment time.
