I’m getting my windows tinted today and I feel like then price I was quoted is very competitive and the service includes pickup and delivery of my car from my workplace. Is it customary to tip the guy doing the window tint?

Although I consider myself a great tipper (but doesn’t everybody?) and someone who is up on their gratuity etiquette in the restaurant/entertainment space, I don’t know how or if you are supposed to tip people for automotive service?

I’d tip for tint, but I don’t think it is expected.

Not expected but it will definitely make his day and I would do it.

It will definitely help build a solid relationship with that business if you ever plan on going back there. They would better remember how you valued their time and efforts

I don’t know about the tint guy in particular, but having worked in my dad’s shop in school holidays, a tip wasn’t expected but highly appreciated

look, here’s the thing, tipping in america is a broken system.

in every other country tipping is not an expectation, it is a way to show you were appreciative of a good job, or someone who went above and beyond.

with that spirit in mind, you can tip in any and all situations, including the guy who does your tint.

I have found that some folks in vocations that typically don’t include tipping will often refuse out of awkwardness, but I’ve never had anyone turn down a thank you 6 pack of good beer.

Yeah, I work in parts at a dealership and I brought some accessories out to a lady with the salesman there who had told her that he would install them for her. Well he walked off and the women told me he said he would, so I said out there and helped her put them on. She attempted to tip me $10 and I refused telling her I would have helped her any way. She then explained that I wasn’t supposed to because the salesman said he would. So she insisted for the kind service and I took the $10. That is how tipping should be. Because you liked the service, not because you “need to”
