At about 1 am we left from Thomaston, and after a fairly eventful trip (saved a guy by lighting up a deer with my lights that he couldn’t see) we got home about 3:30. I tried to hypermile the ruck home at a constant 60mph,and upon checking the the gas an mileage, I found I got 14.5 mpg on the highway (usual is 12)!
Pretty awesome the bumper worked so well. I did not want to put it back on, but my dad was worried about shame, whatever that is.
Thanks to Dusty! Next time we do a rally, it will be less brute force and more strategy. Brute force is too tiring.
+ a 7% correction factor for larger tires.

That must be the 6.0. I can get a consistent 17+ with the 5.3 and 15+ with the diesel. When hypermiling the diesel I’ve gotten 20!

My pickup gets 19 with half the cylinders, half the weight, half the size, half the seats — what I’m saying is, it could be worse!

Yeah, I could have half a pickup. :)

I get 10 mpg when hypermiling my truck. It’s tough to hypermile a 3 speed.

My 4Runner gets less with almost half the displacement. That’s why it’s only logical that when the 3VZE dies again, to double the displacement.

I get 14. I get 14 while towing, while empty. I’ve seen 16 but it went back down to 14.

What did you make the air dam out of? I’m thinking of adding one to my truck cause any improvement in MPG is going to be a big increase

Corrugated plastic from lowes. Its white.

Hmmm...I might need something a bit more durable for a permanent solution. I actually kind of like how it looks though.

Yeah by the end it was way caved in, but i had about and inch of clearance for the lols so with a little support Nd a more reasonable cut it should work pretty good. The plastic is pretty stiff especially when bent

And you can probably beat that mpg figure by either dropping your speed to 55mph and/or follow a large truck driving in the 50-65mph speed range.

Yeah but ive got places to be.

You’ll still get to those places... eventually...
