From elaborate closed courses to on site lodging, what does it take to get a Driver’s License in Japan? A lot.
Fun Fact: Most beginners start out getting one for an Automatic Car.

Or how to be given a license without knowing how to REALLY drive lol. Japan’s death per billion km driven (8 death per billion km) is worst than the US (7.1), France (5.8) or Germany (4.9), in spite of having the slowest average travelling speed of them all for a reason: Japanese never learn how to driven.
EDIT: the railway crossing is the worst... You have to stop and look left and right before EVERY railway crossing. Not only does that create more traffic, but it also creates more risks of stalling on the railway and maximizes the time spent on the rails.

I wish that US drivers had to attend a driving “camp” to build skills. I really like that simulated road course with its sharp bends and obstacles.
