Those handful of times where you’d show up at a strange location in the middle of nowhere, and run into other teams. Totally ridiculous. There were four of us here for the ancient toll booths at this strange outdoor park.
There were also 3 other teams trundling around this small cemetary in the middle of Bridgeport. Here’s the old chevy that was finished the night before the rally.
This was the final checkpoint. I hadn’t seen anyone for hours but Poncho showed up in his ST less than 5 minutes after I arrived. Pretty wild. No SR20 thanks to a horde of flies that kept us in our cars.
10/10 over all for the rally. I hope this happens again next year.

We ran into quite a few others around Bridgeport as well. Not so much later on, though we did get our Dusty sighting bonus pic at that park with the old toll booth!

Hey, thanks for pointing us to the right grave, you saved us a bunch of searching.
Amusingly, the truck ran for the whole rally. But this morning refused to start when I tried to take it to work to brag about getting it done.

Yeah of course! Just paying it forward, the graveyard sites were incredibly time consuming and some others had pointed me in the right direction beforehand.
And of course lol. Cars are such a rollercoaster. Hopefully you get it running ASAP!

I’m expecting butterflies to emerge from my shift boot in a couple weeks.

I was curious and looked up the city’s history when I got home. Apparently it used to specialize in the kind of light manufacturing that was outsourced a long time ago, hence the unbelievable amount of empty lots and dilapidated early 20th century factory buildings. Sad, really.

My ex-wife’s parents were both schoolteachers in Bridgeport. They moved to Maine specifically to avoid raising kids in that pit of a town.

Strange outdoor park doesn’t even begin to describe it. It’s like some collected buildings the way some people collect hot wheels.

Apparently the brothers who collected all of it were... farmers who started an insurance business, bought up around 100 properties, and then spent all of their cash playing with buildings?
