Holy crap.

That could have ended worse. Great to know he’s OK. Thank you, Dallara, for making a safe car, and to the emergency crews for the swift work.
Red flag up. Allons-y leads.
(Take: a similar crash in a different era could have killed Scott Dixon.)

So can we get canopies now or what?

That could’ve been a lot worse obviously, reminded me of the Greg Moore crash.

Holy shit. The way he landed on that barrier... It’s incredible he was able to walk away from that.

A similar crash in a different era would have killed both of them. To have both climb out and walk away... I sat with my mouth agape for at least 2 minutes after.

Great to see that interview just now with Scott Dixon (and Howard earlier), and that he seems fine other than the disappointment.
Safety cell really did its job thankfully.

Tuned in just in time to witness it. A great example of how far we’ve come in safety, watching pretty much everything fall to pieces except the cockpit.

Yeah I saw it first as a slow mo replay and was like fuck that’s bad then I saw it at speed and though how is Scott Dixon not dead right now. Such a nasty wreck but thankfully both drivers made it out on their own power

That slow-mo was hard to stomach. Glad they’re ok!

It was very scary; the way Dixon landed on the wall could’ve hand a much more tragic result. I can’t remember which driver it was but one car drove right under the airborne Dixon, it’s a miracle no one got hurt.

I really want some sort of canopy. In this day and age, I refuse to believe that the brilliant engineers behind motor racing can’t find a good solution to this for all open wheel series.

The best solution I’ve got in my head is a sliding canopy that can be pushed forward by gas cylinders in an “eject” event. With the center of gravity being at the roll-hoop behind the canopy, an inverted car would have no issue tilting backwards to allow egress.

That is a hell of a ride, like fucking up a carrier landing... Weber level air
