Covering the walls with plastic, hmm?
Lives in the Pacific Northwest, hmm?
Zoidberg confirmed as Dexter. This explains so much.

There was a family in our neighborhood that had one of these. I always kind of linked the design. Potentially a good economical choice for a small family.
Is this really considered a C class though, since it doesn’t have the bunk above the driver? Seems to fall somewhere between a B class & a C class.

I think nowadays it’d be called a Class B+, because it’s not a full-on class C, but it’s still based on a cutaway cab, rather than a Class B being based on a regular van with possibly a roof height extension. (And then there’s vans that I’d argue are technically class B+ because they were still cutaway, even though the coachbuilder took pains to make it look like a class B, just tapering to wider behind the cab.)
However, I think back when this was made, class B+ wasn’t really a term, so class C it was?

That’s not the correct question.
The correct question is, “how many transmissions have been put in it?”
(The Volkswagen 01M/01N/01P family is legendarily unreliable, and that’s even in the 01M’s 2.0 liter Golf/Jetta applications, let alone the van 01P (which is the same thing internally, just a bigger case) behind a VR6 dragging around a Rialta. Like, later Chrysler UltraDrive levels of unreliable. Could be worse, though, could be the 096/097/098 family, which is early UltraDrive levels of unreliable.)

Not bad at all! I’m guessing the first owners were old people.
