Raleigh Talus 2.
Been thinking of getting a bike for a couple of years and finally pulled the trigger on it. I wanted something that I could do some trails on eventually but also use as an around town/fitness bike.
I bought it from Amazon and had it at my door in less than a week. Assembly took 45 minutes and besides some fine tuning on the V brakes it’s good to go. Doesn’t have a kickstand and the seat sucks, so I’ll be looking to remedy those issues soon.
Side note: my legs hurt.

Good to see that you have reflectors and hopefully a bell, too! Nice buy!

Reflectors came with and I didn’t think it was worth the effort to pull them off. Might come in handy and make sure people can see me. I think what you’re seeing as a bell is the cell phone holder I put on the bars. I’ll have to substitute in my own bell noises if it comes to that.

Double check your local laws, but here in Ontario you’re required by law to have a bell on your bike.

Be sure to check tightness of pedals and crank, also double check headset bearings, front and rear hubs, and wheels for true. As a former bike shop mechanic, I cannot count the number of times that a bike was brought in with any/all of those items destroyed and the owner saying “I don’t understand, the bike is only three weeks old. I JUST bought it from amazon/nashbar/bikesdirect/etc.”

Not all bells are equal. This one is quite tasty...

I worked at a performance bike for a short stint and started when they were opening a new shop and that meant I (along with 3-4 other guys) were assembling bikes 8 hours a day, 5-6 days a week for a few weeks. And yes, wheels almost always needed fine tuning, headsets were never quite right, and when stems came with handlebars pre-installed they almost always needed adjustment.
Besides that stuff, and then stretching cables, and setting adjustment screws in all the way(to ease future tune ups), and anything with v-brakes needing lots of tweaking, we were essentially rebuilding each boxed bike. I’m exhausted just thinking about it. Worst thing was I got a better paying job before I qualified for the really good employee discounts. I was going to get myself a cyclocross bike at the time.

Good to note. I gave it a quick once over to make sure everything was tight, but I’ll be more thorough before I go out next.

WTB Silverado, any grade, seat is what I found to be the best on MTB from fast to slow, it’s just nice feeling. Paired with a well-fit pair of shorts and liner, sublime.
Don’t get a kickstand, learn to prop the thing on its pedal on a curb, and otherwise don’t leave it around outside of bike racks. Bikes can lay down without getting hurt and a kickstand is just useless weight at best.
Next get a $50 Finish Line bike care kit and add a few old towels to the mix and the bike will last you long enough to tell your great-grandkids what an Amazon was.
