Zoidberg Bait! Spotted in Belfast. This thing was mint! There’s no way this gets driven in the Winter, it would be a carcass by now. Day 3 of our trip was a meander along the coast of the Penobscot bay, which is north of Portland. Here are a couple more shots of this orange anachronism to kick things off:
The badges are great. Definitely zoom in to check them out. One is a vintage dealer badge and the other? 5 speed!
The day started in Camden ME, which is essentially a miniature Newport, RI. Very boujee with plenty of boats. The season hadn’t really started yet though, so we had the place all to ourselves.
A view of the harbor. It’s a ghost town in mid May.
One of Camden’s most noteworthy features is this river, which runs all the way through town.
The rushing water is extraordinarily loud up close, especially right here, where it crashes into the ocean.
There was also a trash can with googly eyes.
The next stop was Mt. Batty, which is only 500ish feet but delivers epic views of Camden, which you can see on the right.
Obviously, Jeep glamour shots were in order.
Earth/Sky shot.
How’s THAT for a river name?
The last stop of the day was wild, especially for me, because I have a fear of heights...
This is the Penobscot narrows bridge, which is over 400 feet tall. There’s an observatory at the top!
The view was pretty epic, but not photogenic thanks to reflections on the glass. This was taken at street level.
They added a section of the bridge to the site, which was fascinating.
Day 4 writeup tomorrow!

That Toyota must be low mileage .... No rust that I can see. And advertises its transmission.

Neat! I am looking into doing a trip with my girlfriend up to Bar Harbor, ME in late July or August this year. Going to make the trip with my Miata and plan on cruising around along the coast. What’s the best way to tour the area without taking the interstate? Got any curvy roads inland I should check out as well?

Bar harbor is a cool place, that was day 4! Route 1 is okay, not exactly fun for spirited driving though but it is scenic. The Mt. Desert Island roads though are NUTS. You will have a blast there, just be careful since the speed limits are really low and you need to watch out for hikers.

Oh yeah scenic is more important than spirited. My girlfriend doesnt like the twisties too much, “makes her green” as she says. But yeah MDI and Cadillac Mountain were definitely on my must see places.
