Today I told the 4-year old no we can’t watch her show again. I turned on the new Roadkill. My 2-year old is fascinated. The 4-year old is busily playing with her new screwdriver at the dinning room table. I’m doing my part to make Jalops out of these girls.

Three daughters here.

11 YO has very limited interest in cars, but will point out anything that looks fast. “Dad, is that a Lambo?”

9 YO will sit and watch car shows with me, and will also come with me to C&C events. Is interested in me getting either a faster car or another 4x4 truck.

5 YO just points to Jeeps and asks me if it’s a Hummer. Sometimes, she points to an actual Hummer and squeaks when I tell her that she’s correct.

It’s hard out here for us dads-o’-daughters.

I despise TVs mounted up high above fireplaces. I want to lie down on the couch and relax, not crane my neck up to the ceiling dammit. When I look at real estate listings, if the only feasible place for a tv in a particular living room is above the fireplace, I close the tab. I don’t care how nice the rest of the house is. Yes, I’m OCD. Like for real, not just how people say they are.

My parents have their TV above the fireplace and a reclining sectional couch. Reclining the couch is the only way to not have to crane your neck, and all other viewing positions suck.

Like I said, yes I know this is an oddly specific thing to be irritated about but it drives me bonkers anyways.

If it makes you feel better, I have similar issues with high-mount tv’s

Good dadding!

I’ve got an 18 month-old son here, and he’s finally showing interest in cars. He’ll oooOOOooo and ahhhhh when I get on it in 2nd or 3rd gear, or when something with a loud exhaust drives by. I’m not sure how you do it with girls, but cheers to you!

Thanks! Boy or girl, all you can really do is expose them and encourage them. Either they take an interest or they don’t. I teach middle school shop, a required class for both boys and girls. Believe it or not, the girls on the whole do a bit better than me the boys.
