I guess I had my Bestbuy account broken into yesterday evening while I was sleeping. The person ordered an iphone 7 to be shipped to Everett WA (I live in Seattle).
I called up bestbuy this morning, and they refunded me the amount and stated that I’m not liable for the purchase.
I asked them if the package could be stopped (still don’t want the person to get away with it). They said that it couldn’t since it is already leaving the warehouse as we were speaking.
So, I added the ship-to address to My UPS choice and selected for the package to be held for pickup. I hope that at least intercepts the package.
Is there anything else i can do? Report this to the cops in Everett?

Contact your credit card ASAP if you haven’t already. There’s no telling what other purchases they may try to make.

Definitely file a police report; you’ll need it for any identity theft help.

Well since you have the address, start filling out every magazine subscription offer in their name, and mail them off postage-free from a mailbox in another county.... not that I have ever partaken in such an activity to get revenge on a scrupulous person....

If I’m reading correctly, the order was made on your Best Buy credit account. Really, none of this is your business once you notify Best Buy. Perhaps putting a hold on the package will provide an opportunity to get the phone back to Best Buy, but it’s likely that you won’t be compensated for any effort you make.
Criminals smart enough to pull off the hack are also smart enough to use a drop house and pay another criminal to be the pickup mule. They won’t be sending it to their own house unless they are either really dumb or it’s a kid who is young and stupid. Either way, cops usually aren’t interested unless the value is really high or there are a large number of packages.
Putting a hold on the package will probably alert the thief so he/she won’t get caught anyway. If you pick up the package, you might accidentally shift the blame onto yourself. Once you get the hold confirmation, contact Best Buy and tell them what is going on so they can work with you to get the goods returned.

Scout the house and intercept at the front door with a Louisville Slugger?

You got the charges voided, just stop there. Let Best Buy’s loss prevention team figure out if it is worth doing anything about the criminal.

Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking.
