This is the last part needed for body panel replacement on the Vespa. I am going to try to complete the body, front signals, and crash bars this weekend.
I bought this to be a cheap toy to buzz around the neighborhood and generally not give a shit about. I figured I would let the body degrade and turn into a rat Vespa covered in stickers.
But something happened.
I fell in love with it and want to make it special. So now I have spent more on parts than I have on the scooter, and could habe just bought a newer, nicer, larger displacement Vespa, especially if I had just sold this one.
But I want this one, and I want to make it mine. Something is haywire in my brain.
This scooter will never be worth what I am putting into it.
First the Sunchaser, now this. I am deranged.
Have you had an obsession like this?

Have you had an obsession like this?
I just bought all the front end bits for the Rallyfortwo. Welp, no going back now!
Honorable mention: The vast amount of smartphones I have, some of them brand new, never used.

Technically yes, but it fought with my wallet and the wallet won.

A man after my own heart. I replaced the head shield/plastic on my damn weed whacker because it was cracked!

I have a 1989 Honda CB-1 motorcycle. I bought it used and ended up crashing it the day I got it (the brakes were fucked up... that’s why you should ride a new-to-you used bike home 160 miles).
I think I paid $1500 for it, and I have over $2500 tied up in rebuilding it. It’s stupid and illogical but I love the little thing for reasons I can’t explain.

I have the urges, but not the means.

My FR-S
Really, I should just either buy a V8 mustang or an old shitty car to modify... but here I am probably $10-15K in before forced induction (which is going on this month) and I’ll never see this money back.

Dude, I can COMPLETELY relate. I just want to get things and fix them. 99% of the time, I spend more making it right than it’s worth and/or I eventually sell it for. Exhibits 1 & 2 are currently in my driveway and despite ridiculously cheap buy-in, both have already exceeded their market values in parts.

Not particularly. I want to get it back 100% road worthy so I can ride it. I love the little thing to death. Also... do you have a CB-1?!?

I’ve had all the old Vespas, VBBs, Supers, Ps, in every color! I’ve had a Lambretta SX too. I just couldn’t get a new one, you should get a P200E. I only have one left, it’s in storage, it’s a trapezoid headlight 66' 150 Super.

I have urges and means, but a wife who keeps me grounded. She’s the only reason I have means... if not for her I’m sure I would have blown every cent I have on garbage old cars and have nothing of value to show for it. Instead I have a decent savings account and 2 houses, and I drive around in an 18 year old beige Suburban.

Good point about the wife and the savings account and the old truck. I have those too. I just mentally pretend we don’t have the savings account. It makes it easy for me to not fantasize about all the stuff I could do with that money, because to my simple mind we don’t have it anymore once it goes in that account.

That’s a great way to think about it!

It makes it a lot easier!

I would probably be willing to sell you the whole bike, if you can come to Maryland to get it, or make arrangements to have it shipped. I even have a lot of a spare engine for it. It doesn’t run right, so I’d be willing to let it go for pretty cheap.
