I spotted this ‘65 T-Bird at a local dealer. Not the kind of thing you typically see at a regular car dealership.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Not to mention that it’s the rare 0.0 liter T-Bird.

NOW A EVERYBODY KNOWS, ABOUT THE BIRD, THE B-B-BIRD BIRD BIRD, BIRD IS THE WORD

But is it as rare as the 1-mile Tahoe I posted last week?

My local Ford dealership has this.

I was going to share a picture, but Kinja won’t let me.

My local Toyota dealer had an ‘86 Supra on the floor for quite some time. They keep an FJ40 on display for kicks.

That’s nice, price is good as well.

T-Birds are shockingly affordable classics.

Why thank you :)

Nice! I’ll have to drive by this weekend...
Whenever I see something like this, I wonder how it got there- did someone trade it in on a FoST or what?

There’s a buy here pay here near my house with a Model A (or similar?) on the back of the lot. I’m trying to get the courage to walk over for a better look.
And some tiny but nicer used car dealer near work had a freaking Yugo a couple months ago. We were all fascinated until we saw they wanted $8k for it!

Whenever I see something cool and out of place at a dealership, I always assume they inherited it and traded it in on something impossibly boring. I suspect the former owner used it as a down payment on a freaking white Explorer or something.

The local Mazda dealer had a late-60s, early-70s Plymouth on their preowned lot for months and months. My brother always joked he was gonna buy it.

That’s probably a good guess. And anyone trading this to a Ford dealer either doesn’t know its value or doesn’t care enough to sell it themselves.
I think a few dealers go out of their way to have a car or two like this to grab attention - but Willowbrook Ford isn’t one of them. Tom Todd Chevy in Wheeling used to do this when I was a kid.

Well it must be in very good shape and they knew they could unload it.
![]() 05/17/2017 at 22:49 |

If I had a dealership I would own a few classics of that mark and rotate them.

“This is my collection of Supras. Would you like to buy a Corolla?”
![]() 05/17/2017 at 23:06 |

Certified pre-owned? It’s a Ford at a Ford dealer right?
![]() 05/17/2017 at 23:22 |

I remeber the toyota dealership I bought my first car from, had a mint late 80's Camery on the show room floor.
![]() 05/17/2017 at 23:24 |

Well I have been to the Yokohama Nissan building and they always have a classic next to the Z and GTR.

Oh wow, Tom Todd Chevy, there’s a name that takes me back. Hadn’t thought about them in years.
Grand Subaru often has some interesting stuff on their lot. Although the coolest thing I ever saw there, a ‘63 Impala drag car from back in the day, belonged to the sales manager and wasn’t for sale.

Eight grand for a Yugo!!! That’s batshitcrazypants!
![]() 05/17/2017 at 23:27 |

That would’ve been a lot more interesting than a Grand Am :)

Totally! Let me get that paperwork started for you sir.

I grew up about 10 minutes from Tom Todd, and we got a 79 Caprice wagon there.
Even as a kid, I loved old cars, so I always looked forward to driving by there to see what they had.

Yes, but Denver hipsters are also batshitcrazypants. Anyone paying $300k for houses in my neighborhood would probably think that’s a steal!

I grew up in Deerfield, so not too much farther away. Tom Todd did always have something interesting to look at on the way by.

Sweet! Make sure to include the undercoating and nitrogen filled tires!

Good point!
![]() 05/17/2017 at 23:32 |

Done and done! May I interest you in some pinstriping?
![]() 05/18/2017 at 00:18 |
|
Ooh yes please! On a serious note the dealer I bought my Outback from has a guy hand pinstripe all of their cars and it actually looks pretty good. Ours is bronze and gray on black paint with a little Subaru logo on the fenders. Helps set it apart from the other Outbacks and it’s not going to peel like the shitty decal pinstripe I had on a Hyundai before that. They add it to the vehicle price for something reasonable like $200 but didn’t fuss at all about negiotiating it out.
