Because front cv shafts won’t take the kind of punishment that the rest of the long travel suspension can. wait.

To be fair, the PreRunner wasn’t the standard 2WD. It was a 2WD version of the 4WD, with the added suspension height, etc.
The standard 2WD didn’t even have the 6 lug wheels, it had 5 lugs

yes - I think there is a decent niche market for the PreRunners. Say you don’t need 4x4 but need the extra clearance and beefier tires, (like if you drive on gravel roads a bunch or simply prefer the higher ride position.)
