It is extremely large diameter piping for how far away the turbo is from the exhaust manifold.

I’ve seen turbo kits for the C6 Corvette where the turbos are mounted in place of the mufflers in the very back of the car, so anything is possible. There’s probably more lag from the size of the turbo and its piping, not the distance from the engine.

Maybe. Would increase lag, perhaps, given the volume the turbo has to fill, but then you wouldn’t want it too narrow, for pressure drop.

Yeah. It looks like really big piping for such a remote mount, but that might just be me.
