Paid my first ticket in a couple years this week. I was leaving my weekly rec-league soccer game about a month ago, stayed in second (~5mph) leaving the parking lot after looking to make sure all was clear in both directions; noticed I was being followed by a police car about a mile down the road and got pulled about 5 miles into my drive home. He said he followed me because I rolled through the stop sign (true) and then gave me a ticket for excessive exhaust noise. I didn’t hit the aggressive cam and I do have a cat (albeit a high-flow). That said, the dual-exhaust Invidia exhaust is fairly loud vs. stock, and Virginia does have a law against aftermarket exhausts...
In retrospect, I think he was both giving me a break (no pts on license) while hitting his quota. It was an excuse to pull me and check my records, and I’m a guaranteed ticket. On my end, no points and it was only $100, and I don’t have to certify that I’ve changed anything. Still, assuming I get a couple of those per-year, that’s $200/year; not chump-change.
I am considering trading the exhaust for a stock setup. Between the fact it makes me a target for police and causes my ECU to frequently pop the P0420 code (I shit you not, that’s Honda’s 2nd O2-sensor code) I’m not sure I really care enough to keep it. Come to think of it, P.O. had it de-catted so it could just be the sensor’s burnt out from running in dirty flow—- I should change that I suppose... at least get rid of half the problem while I debate whether or not to keep the (great sounding) aftermarket exhaust.

Where’s the rec league you’re playing in? My wife keeps urging me to get back into soccer (as if the kids don’t keep me busy enough).
