Rare because they’re terrible, the convertible added like 800 lbs some how.

Edit: nope I’m wrong it’s not much heavier. Like 60lb from SL TO SL Spyder, and only like 20lbs from VR-4 to VR-4 Spyder.

Yes, they are ‘rarer’ than the VR4s because they were less Spyder SLs made vs. VR4's. However, the VR4 is the one people want with the turbos. SL’s do 220hp vs the VR4's 300-320hp (depending on year) and also, tragically, most SL’s are automatics. (There are very few 5-sp manual Spyder SLs)
