I had, well my family had, almost the exact same car. Ours was an ‘86 and was dark blue, but was a four door with the manual transmission. Great little car. And I do me little. I pulled up next to one in a parking lot recently, and compared to my Focus, it was so tiny. Still, I’d love to have one again. It was such a great driving car. Ours lacked power steering, and you could feel every pebble in the road. Can you imagine a car being sold without power steering? 99% of people would freak out about how heavy it would be, but I’d love it in a small, sporty car.

I had an ‘85 Golf two door for a short while. It had a few mods- suspension, exhaust, GLI Recaros... Man was it a blast to drive! It was my intro to slow car fast!

The Niva has manual steering. Only ever causes grief if I’m sitting stationary, and even then it’s easier than fighting against inoperable power steering.
