Coworker just sent me these photos, our beloved 2500HD work rig got the big take down by a whitetail deer. Damn deer. She assured me that the deer was in much worse shape than the truck.

They said they were doing about 55-60 when they hit the deer which probably weighs in around 120-150 lbs. And yes these newer truck bumpers are very thin.

Yeah, my father in law had taken out a few deer with his 02 and 03 Fords. But those things are hefty. With focus on driver safty rather than vehicle longevity we’ll never see steel like that on the front of a truck again.

A former roommate of mine once hit some sort of small animal on his way back from his parents and completely caved in his front bumper. We spent that night washing the parts of the pulped animal off and trying to pop his bumper back into place.

Lots of folks have a Montana version of that bumper but this is a work truck and the company isn’t going to pay for a $5,000 bumper.
