I can’t fault you for that, but how much does one of these go for?

Easy! 1964 FIAT 2300 S Coupe Speciale by Pininfarina! :D
:P

This is NOT one of the options! lol
But I didn’t even know this existed. Its very Ferrari-esque. I wonder why Fiat didn’t go along with building newer versions of this...

To answer your question though. 560 it is a great looking car

Not an option, but it SHOULD be right? :P
Apparently there were 5 different versions of this car from 1962 on with the last one in the late ‘60's sometime. Very pretty ride!
Of the two you picked......I think I would have to go with the Merc!

You *could* look at this as a very pretty car, or you could do what I do and look at it as a slightly uglier Mazda Cosmo.

That’s a sweet looking coupe :)
From the options, I’d go for the 560 as well.

Well that’s a bummer. Its anywhere from 2x to 5x more expensive than the options in this post.

Lol if you look at all pillarless coupes ever made, there are too many options to choose from!
And I had no idea. I’ll have to look these up :) They’re very pretty.
![]() 05/03/2017 at 08:54 |

OR, is the Cosmo a slightly prettier 2300S? Seeing as the FIAT came first? :P
![]() 05/03/2017 at 08:55 |

I say we lobby for a pillarless coupe comeback.

Agreed.
I was just looking at the Cadillac concept that was never made...WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY!

I’ll take one of those Jags, but one that hasn’t been ruined with a stupid engine swap.

I’d park this beside my E34.

It’s been sharing daily duty with my Camaro, but getting most of the miles because I just love driving it so much and have owned my Z28 for nearly a decade. Just about everything works, but I consider it a project. I’ve only had it a couple weeks and haven’t started wrenching on it yet.
There are cosmetic issues like lower door and decklid rust and peeling paint on the hood, as well as mechanical things like the common Bimmer lifter tap, the clutch is a little noisy at times, the suspension could use a refresh and other little quirks, but overall it’s solid and a real pleasure to drive.
What blew my mind is that almost everything still works despite just turning over 280k miles today. The AC, the sunroof, cruise, heated seats and just about everything. The driver’s rear door seems to have a disconnection somewhere though.
It’s my beater, but the more time I spend with it the more I want to build it. These cars are just so reliable and simple. If you haven’t yet, I suggest getting out and taking one for a drive. You’ll dig it.

That was unexpected and a pleasant surprise.
I haven’t wrenched before and BMWs are infamous for issues, if you hear the nightmare stories. To me, older Bimmers are Mercs are reliable, but not durable. So I stayed away from them when I was first able to afford a car.
I’ve seen these cars offered for $2-4k on craigslist, but they all seemed like “Mechanic specials” to me.
Do you think a lot of these cars are sold in a condition similar to yours - as in 90% working. with some cosmetic and other issues that don’t affect the drive train?
