By the way June is looking at Ward, I think he is about to have a good night. They might even push the beds together. If you don’t recognize the image then get off my lawn.

There’s a beaver joke here somewhere.

Aside: I thought the twin beds thing was something the networks did for propriety on TV. Then, I took a tour through an old estate. The master bedroom had twin beds. The guide explained that such was in style back then. Not sure I completely buy that, but it was for this rich couple.

They wouldn’t push them together; someone would hop.

Both sets of my grandparents had this setup. They were far from rich- I dunno if it was the norm, but I think it was common-

Came for this, left satisfied.

But probably not as satisfied as Ward.

for some reason this was also the norm in Norway. Every hotel room had twin beds...all of them. not ideal for a honeymoon.

Or Eddie Haskell, who is probably filming it from outside their window with a 16mm movie camera to sell it on the black market. #subplot

Agreed. I wonder how many people failed to notice the constant background noise of propeller engines on the 707.

That was one of the running gags I loved throughout that movie. I vaguely recall seeing some old airplane disaster movie after the fact that had this mixup *unintentionally*. Might have been an old Twilight Zone episode or something, I don’t remember. The funny thing is that after this movie came out, I stumbled on some a couple of movies that were parodied in Airplane!, and some of the scenes started to make more sense. No Highway in the Sky was one, although I don’t think I ever saw Zero Hour.

I had heard that Airplane! was pretty much a shot-for-shot remake of Zero Hour (which I haven’t seen either). You can rent Zero Hour on YouTube for $3.

Funny thing about Airplane! is that I don’t think any of the actors in it had ever done comedy before...

Ward was more interested in his pipe, slippers and newspaper.
