I took my car in under warranty the other day. (That CEL from earlier turned out to be a software issue, and it would have cost me around $80 to get the update if I just had 3000 more miles on the car. I feel like an apparent software issue should be covered for the life of the car, as that’s entirely on them and I couldn’t do anything to stop it.) Anyway, though, this was on my receipt. I’m tempted to write a review of the place and put quotes around all of my compliments. That’s just very unsettling.

I’m more bothered by “stride” than the quotes around excellent. Unless they really want to highlight the gait they use to help you out.

If you get a survey from the manufacturer make sure you put in the comments that you can’t trust a place to work on the second biggest investment most people make in their life if they can’t use proper grammar.

Unnecessary quotes are the worst. I used to work at a pizza place and the boss would use quotes on the specials board for emphasis. He’d also add apostrophes to any word ending with an S. Nothing says a good deal like:

2 Large “Pizza’s” for $13.99
