Or, how I made it clear that some truck buyers aren’t traditional. Traded my wife’s Outlander for this 2017 F-150 2.7 Ecoboost. Dat gray doe

Good for you although I cannot with all good conscience buy a truck for the amount they are asking these days. It might be different if I drove it daily and needed it, but currently that is not the case and I feel they are waaaaay too expensive. I’ll keep my 2003 F250 V10 until gas prices go back up and the sales of trucks fall on their face and I can again afford a new one.

It’ll happen eventually, gas can’t stay cheap forever. I think you’ll be impressed by the improvements they’ve made in the last decade....I know I was, when the last Ford truck I drove was an 04.

And the 2.7 has more power than the 5.4 did then.

Indeed. It really hustles a full size truck down the road, surprised me

I remember hearing a surprising amount of turbo noise from one of these at a stoplight. Not a bad thing! Too bad a tune = goodbye warranty

Apparently a very common mod is to remove the intake silencer, I imagine it would make for more whoooosh. Mine’s leased tho, so I won’t be finding out.

Welcome to the club. My dad traded in his 215k mile 2004 Ford Ranger Edge SuperCab 3.0 V6 5 speed manual for a new 2016 F150 SuperCrew XLT Sport 2.7 EcoBoost in January. It’s safe to say he absolutely loves it. He’s put almost 8k miles on it since January. His is also Lithium Gray. Here’s a picture.
Who am I kidding? As stupid as it sounds, I’m very much considering one of these for my next car instead of the 3-Series. With discounts, they’re about the same price.

I think you can also vent the blow of valves quite easily, or at least you can on the 3.5l just need some rubber feet for chairs and some hose clamps and you can vent them to atmo.

Yeah, I’m only doing Ford approved (like my red/black badging) or 10 minute removable type things

I’ve said for several years that if I bought another truck, it would be a Tundra.....but after driving the loaner truck at my new job (Ford dealer), I was in love.

They aren’t that much more expensive when you look at sale prices rather than MSRP. According to Truecar, a base model (with a few options) 2wd, reg cab F150 that stickers at a hair under $30k usually goes for around $24,500. For comparison, a 1985 F150 long bed cost $18,500 adjusted for inflation. The new truck is more expensive, but you are getting a lot of tech and a lot more capability in the new truck.
