I have genuinely never seen a car in worse condition selling for this much.

What the hell even happened to the upholstery? Did it rust away? How badly built could these cars have been? I’m assuming it was in some kind of large fire, but that doesn’t explain the strangely good condition of the center console and shifter.
Such a shame to see one in such bad condition, considering I think it’s unequivocally the most beautiful car ever built.

I saw one of those this weekend, in Birmingham Alabama of all places.

Not fire damage--probably just parked outside in the sun and ignored for decades, so the paint and the leather and the most exposed plastic and rubber went completely to shit but the parts out of direct sunlight survived.

Doesn’t really look rusty...somebody should remove any rust that is there, clearcoat it, get all the stock mechanicals in good nick, replace the interior and bam....patina’d SM :P

Looks like it sat in the hot sun for many, many years

Well I guess it was in Hoover to be exact. I went to visit a friend and we found this small cars and coffee and it was there.

I may or may not trawl Craigslist for Citroens on a regular basis.

Holy shit that is one intimidating engine bay

What are you talking about? That’s not in bad shape, it’s a custom made rat rod. All of that wear and rust you see is just artificially applied ‘patina’. Considering all of the work it took to make it look like this they should be charging double that asking price...

Asking prices are how some express freedom of speech. It won’t sell for that, it can’t, right?

Come on, it’s just a little V6, some AC, four hydraulic accumulators, and some dark sorcery. Child’s play.

It’s only an Italian engine installed by the French. What could go wrong?

I’d give you more stars but I can’t afford it.

It’s not actually that bad. The body is not very rusty. It has probably been fried by the sun for couple of decades. The engine compartment looks cleaner than many “restored” cars here. The price is quite high, but that seller is known for asking prices.
Couple of years ago someone posted here a $1,500 SM and that thing was really bad...
