Man that headline bugs me. It makes it sound like the pilots saw a flock of birds and aborted the takeoff before they ran through them. When you hit enough birds to take out enough engines to prevent you from getting off the ground that is way beyond a bird scare. The headline should be something like “Multiple Bird Strikes Resulted in Aborted Takeoff”.

Yeah it’s more than a bit unfair. I mean I’d guess even on takeoff the B-52 can afford to lose some engines, but when you are talking about losing 3-4, all on the same side, that sounds like a situation where an abort is perfectly warranted.
