993 3.6 motor, truncated to 4 cylinders and sprinkled with some 3.8 goodies, shoehorned into a ‘56 Speedster- with 944 suspension and steering, big brakes behind Chip Foose-designed 1 off wheels, a widened rear to accommodate them, along with a 914 (early 911) transaxle that needed a rebuild. I got to be an extra hand dropping the drivetrain and observed the transmission rebuild but only got there in time to button some minor finishing touches together today. Quite a price tag on this one but it sure was neat to see its guts spilled!

I think so; it definitely looks to be one, but I didn’t ask. It’s enough power for this little aluminum tub to get down the road. The upgraded underpinnings would be very welcome here because the polo engine probably puts out a good 3x stock power. I hope that whoever gets to own this car drives it, as someone taking this thing on historic rallies and driving it all over the world would be one lucky bastard!

Even half real and half fake ones are great.

Agreed. It’s not a hard car to copy, but is appealing either way because of its looks and minimalist character. I’m not opposed to some well-executed modernization behind the scenes, though!
